So, it's October, and the little rascal has been back to school for a whole month now, but let me tell you, it's been a bit of a circus trying to get back into the groove. I mean, seriously, why is it such a struggle this year? Is Mercury in retrograde or something?
Tbh, it's not just about him--it's about me too! I mean, getting out of bed is like a mission impossible these days. Ever since our dear Duke left us, life has been as gloomy as a rainy day--for the both of us. I have to admit, I never thought losing a pet would hit me this hard as a grown-up.

Also, Kiddo's got a new teacher this year, and I haven't had the pleasure of meeting this mysterious figure yet. When I asked Kiddo to spill the beans about him, he hit me with a comparison that had me in stitches. "You know the old man from the Disney movie Up? That's him," Kiddo said, complete with a disapproving frown. "He's like a walking nap," he added. I did my best to reassure him that the school year is young, and who knows, maybe this teacher will surprise us all and turn into a party animal by Thanksgiving! "I don't count on it," kiddo said.
Can we talk about school crushes for a moment? I remember my first school crush: Palmer. He was the playground heartthrob. So, it's only natural that this will happen, but I never expected my sonny boy to have a crush so soon. I won't name names, but yes ladies and gents, my little sonny boy seems to have caught the crush bug too! I'm playing it cool, waiting for him to spill the beans when he's ready. The saga continues!
Back-to-school season is like a rollercoaster ride through a tornado! The weather gets wackier, the days get shorter, and suddenly your family's schedule is more twisted than a pretzel. Parents are running around like headless chickens, signing up their kids for every activity under the sun. But hey, this year, my little rascal decided to take a chill pill and skip the after-school shenanigans. Maybe there's a glimmer of hope after all! Does that make me a bad parent--happy my kid wants nothing to do with after-school activities? Oops, if it does!
So, sacrificing for the greater good is all well and good, but let's face it, being a parent and juggling family responsibilities can sometimes feel like a tightrope act in a circus. And don't even get me started on us single moms! We're basically superheroes without capes, handling everything solo. Teacher meetings, schedule changes, you name it - we do it all! But hey, shoutout to my main crew, mom and dad, for being the real MVPs in my life. Seriously, they're like my personal superheroes, and I hit the jackpot with them! #Blessed
So, here's the deal: I'm not the only one feeling the back-to-school jitters. I've come to terms with the fact that these transitions can be a bit of a rollercoaster, and I've learned to embrace the chaos of the "transitionary window." Eventually, after a few weeks or maybe a month, my little one will settle into a new routine at school. In the meantime, I'm on a quest to find my zen and manage my own emotions, because let's face it, I need to keep it together to help my kiddo keep it together.
