Real Talk | Where Did All the Weirdos Go? Why I Actually Like Threads...

Let’s get one thing out of the way: I don’t usually like platforms other than Instagram. But then again, all social media is basically a digital swamp. Twitter (I refuse to call it X) turned into a dumpster fire with a user interface. Facebook is like your aunt’s basement where conspiracy theories go to die. And TikTok? Too loud. Too fast. Too much trauma-dumping between dance challenges.

So when Threads rolled out, I side-eyed it like a cat watching a cucumber. Another app? Another hot mess? I expected radical opinions wrapped in pastel aesthetics, crypto bros yelling into the void, and someone trying to sell me mushroom coffee for $49.99.

But instead?

Silence. Chill. Actual people talking like… people.

Threads is weirdly normal. It's like a digital brunch table without the table-flipping. There’s no rage-bait, no culture war cosplay, no spiritual bypassing influencers telling me to “manifest through my root chakra.” Just unhinged enough to be fun, but not so unhinged that you need a tetanus shot after scrolling.

I don’t know what kind of algorithmic sorcery Meta pulled, but it’s giving early-internet vibes. A little messy. A little sincere. And most importantly: not radicalized. No one’s screaming about lizard people or 5G. I haven’t been doxxed once. It’s quiet. Like mentally quiet. And damn, do I need that.

People post their half-baked thoughts, weird dreams, dinner fails, and late-night existentialism—and somehow, it feels like the safest room in the house. There’s space to think instead of react. Space to post something dumb without ten trolls dissecting your moral compass.

Is it perfect? Nope. Is it a little too clean sometimes? Sure. But honestly, I like that Threads feels like the internet left on read. Not abandoned—just not screaming.

So yeah, I’m staying. At least until the weirdos find it. Or until the first celebrity launches a cult. Whichever comes first.
