When you close your eyes and picture Scotland, what comes to mind? For me, it's all about James Fraser and Claire - I mean, who else, right? Maybe Outlander played a tiny role in convincing me to visit this rugged, wild and beautiful country.

To be honest, I had no idea what to expect when I stepped off the plane and onto Scottish soil for the first time. But I can tell you this, I was not prepared for just how epically beautiful this country is -- unlike any other place I've ever seen -- from the bustling streets of Glasgow to the allure of the highlands.
First off, I have to point out, from the sky, the light hits differently in Scotland. Not sure how or why, but it just does. The way the sun beams streak across the sky, skipping off the skyline and landscape; it's something I've never seen before.
So, right off the get-go, the folks in Glasgow were super welcoming, easy-going, and just real. The moment I arrived, I was swept away by the friendliness of the locals, the history and the architecture! There's just something magical about Scotland's largest city, perfectly situated by the River Clyde. It's all about the friendly atmosphere, the buzzing arts scene, and the endless list of cool stuff to explore and experience.
As I strutted down the cobblestone streets of Glasgow, I couldn't help but feel the electric energy that perfectly encapsulated the spirit of the Scots. The city was oozing with its unique coolness, blending vintage charm with a touch of swag. Plus, who can resist a good ol' kilt twirl in the wind? No big deal, just another day in Scotland!
So, get this - turns out Harry Potter was never filmed at the University of Glasgow, even though it totally looks like a wizarding school. But hey, that didn't stop me from checking out the Gothic-revival vibes, with its spires and majestic cloisters. Apparently, they did film a scene in the cloisters, but I have no clue which one (I know, I know, I'm a muggle when it comes to HP movies). Anyway, it was a fun way to spend a rainy afternoon in Glasgow!
Following a few days exploring the city, I opted to explore the untamed wilderness of the Highlands, and I was completely mesmerized by the rugged, unspoiled beauty that surrounded me. Majestic mountains rose in the distance, covered in mist and intrigue. Even when hidden by dark, overcast skies, it only enhanced its natural wild allure. Photos could not do the unfiltered beauty any justice -- it was truly breathtaking.
After my trip through the highlands, I made sure to check out a bunch of towns along the way. Every stop I made showed off these cute little villages that totally captured the unique vibe of the area. I couldn't resist the charm of these places, with their cute buildings and beautiful views. Chatting with the locals, I was impressed by how friendly and welcoming they were, making the whole experience even more special. The vibe was just so cozy and chill, it really made me feel right at home with them. These cool towns really made a lasting impression on me, sparking a whole new love for the beauty and charm you can find in these hidden gems.
So, my whirlwind romance with Scotland was brief but a total blast! I mean, we really hit it off! I'm already daydreaming about my next rendezvous - maybe a cozy getaway in Edinburgh or a romantic stroll along the coast. Who knows where this love affair will take us? No doubt about it, Scotland is a total gem. I mean, her landscapes are like no other! They seriously outshine the rest. Thanks for an awesome time, Scotland! Sláinte!!!
